What is Ping ?

Whenever we want to test our network  speed or network connection we use ping.

What is ping ?

Ping(Packet InterNet Groper)is a  computer software utility tool.It is used to verify that a computer can communicate over the network with another computer or network device.It is mainly used for calculating response time.

What is meant by Response time ?

Among two different places like host and destination.When we send message from host to destination and how much time to get response back from destination to host is known as Response time.It is also known as round trip time or reaction time.

Response time is implemented by Ping with the help of  Internet Control Message Protocol(ICMP) i.e, in the same network when we ping two nodes,it sends Echo Request packets from source to destination and waiting for response,based on the Echo replay packets or response from destination to source it calculates Response time.

   

Ping is measured in milliseconds(ms).If ping time is less then the system response is more.For online gamers, if the ping time is less the gaming experience is better.

   

Ping can be used for different purposes.

• If we know the host name we can easily find the dot address with the help of ping.
• It also gives the statistics data like network errors,packet data loss.

In this example round trip is 33 milliseconds and it has no data loss. 

How to install WampServer ?

WampServer is a local server for windows. It allows you to create web applications with Apache2, PHP and a MySQL database. It can  manage easily your databases using PhpMyAdmin.

This article will provide steps to install WampServer on your computer.

INSTALLING WAMPSERVER

1.DOWNLOAD WAMPSERVER

First of all download the latest version of WampServer from google or just follow this url http://www.wampserver.com/en to download  the WampServer. This url will redirected to the wampServer official site. 

After click on the link this window will appear on the screen.

Make sure you select the correct installer file for your version of Windows. If you don’t know if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit, right-click on My Computer, and then click Properties.

 If your system is 64 bit then select WampServer 64 BITS (X64).This window will appear.

Then you notice download directly click on it and save file in your computer and also download the latest Visual Studio 2012 VC 11 vcredist_x64/86.exe file and install it or just follow this url: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 to download.

2.INSTALLING WAMP SERVER

To start the installation process, you need to open the folder where you saved the file.First install the latest version of visual studio after successful installation then install WampServer file.

A security warning window will open, asking if you are sure you want to run this file. Click Run to start the installation process.

Next you will see the Select Setup language screen.Choose your language then Click OK to continue the installation.

After click on ok another screen appears presented with License Agreement.Read the agreement and click on radio button i accept the agreement,then click next and continue the installation process.

Next you will see the Information screen. Click next to continue.

Next you will see the Select Destination Location screen.If you want to install WampServer on same drive, you should not need to change anything. Click next to continue.

Next you will see Select Start Menu Folder. Click next to continue.

Next you will see the Ready To Install screen.If you want to make any changes go back otherwise click on install to continue.

WampServer will begin Extracting files to the location you selected.

Once the files are extracted, it will be asked to choose Browser on your system. WampServer defaults to Internet Explorer upon opening the local file browser window. If your default browser isn’t IE, then look in the following locations for the corresponding .exe file:

•  Opera:    C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\opera.exe
•  Chrome: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

And it will also ask to select your editor choose Notepad or Notepad++

Next you will  see Launch phpMyAdmin screen.when you are ready to continue to setup,click next.

 The Installation Complete screen will now appear.then click Finish to complete the installation.

You should see the WampServer icon appear on your desktop.

Double click on WampServer icon then you will see WampServer icon appear in the systray on the right side of your taskbar.

If the icon is red, then both Apache and MySQL services aren’t running.Then you need to click on wampServer icon then select Start All Services.

After clicking on Start All Services then WampServer icon will change into green color.It means everthing will be working properly.

3.TESTING

Once you have completed the installation process, test your installation is properly working or not.Open your browser and type http://localhost

You should see the WampServer homepage displayed.

Then click on phpmyadmin. It navigate to Welcome to phpMyAdmin screen.

Here the default Username is root and password is blank. Then click Go button.

Then you will see phpmyadmin database server.

4.SHUTTING DOWN WAMPSERVER

To shut down WampServer, click on the WampServer icon and select Stop All Services.

The icon will turn red once all services have been shut down.
